The Journal of Rural Studies has published an article by members of the Geomigrace research team—Eliška Masná, Aneta Stoker, Jiří Hasman, and Josef Novotný—on the migration aspirations of farmers in western Zambia. Based on their own data, the authors demonstrate that, despite challenging economic and environmental conditions, the majority of residents prefer to stay in the area and have only limited migration aspirations. If migration does occur in the region, it is exclusively internal, either to the regional center or the capital city of Lusaka. The analysis highlights the factors associated with decisions about potential migration.
