Two publications about the future of migration from Ukraine, editors are members of our research team

September 30, 2016 - Two our publications were published which focused on research of Ukrainian migration during the crisis - In the book Ukrainian Migration in Times of Crisis: Forced and Labour Mobility (eds Dusan Drbohlav, Marta Jaroszewicz) are captured the impacts of deteriorating security as well as socio-economic situation in Ukraine, springing from the Russian annexation of the Crimea and the eruption of war in the eastern part of the country, migration from Ukraine to the European Union (EU), especially to Poland, Czech and Slovakia.

Invitation to two conferences on the occasion of completion of our project "Ukraine's Migration Monitoring: Forced Labor and Mobility"

August 29, 2016 - we are invited to the final conferences of the project "Ukraine's Migration Monitoring: Forced Labor and Mobility," which will take place on 13/9/2016 in Warsaw, 14/9/2016 in Bratislava. The aim of the project was to map the migration flows from Ukraine to Central European countries (Poland, CZE, SK) as a result of political events in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine (more about the project). The project results in published book. The book can be ordered free of charge by the publishers P3K or electronically downloaded from our website at the end of September.

Lenka Pavelková and Kristýna Peychlová participated in the conference New Wave 2016

June 5, 2016 - Lenka Pavelková and Kristýna Peychlová, members of the GEOMIGRACE team, participated in the conference New Wave, held on May 19 and May 20, 2016, at the Faculty of Science. Both participated in a session on methodology in migration research, Lenka Pavelková with the presentation titled Migration Statistics in the EU as a Challenge to Research on Migration, Kristýna Peychlová with one titled Living with Bias: Sampling in Qualitative Migration Research.

June 1, 2016 - XLVI. Conference of the Czech Demographic Society on Migration and demographic challenges took place in Jindřichův Hradec on 26th and 27th May, 2016. Dušan Drbohlav and Zdeněk Čermák were between the key note speakers. In other sessions, Dagmar Dzúrová, Jiří Hasman and Markéta Seidlová from our team presented their papers. Dušan Drbohlav also appeared in the reportage by the local TV.

Dušan Drbohlav had a lecture at the David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies in Hong Kong

June 7, 2015 - On May 28, 2015, Dušan Drbohlav had a lecture at the David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies in Hong Kong. He talked about migration flows in Central and Eastern Europe with focus on Czechia as the most attractive country in the region.

Presentation of Markéta Seidlová at the conference „Coherence and Incoherence in Migration Management and Integration: Policies, Practices and Perspectives” in Canada

From 7th until 9th of May 2014, Montreal, Canada, hosted a conference „Coherence and Incoherence in Migration Management and Integration: Policies, Practices and Perspectives”, being the seventh anniversary conference of the Canadian Association for Refugee and Forced Migration Studies. The conference was attended by 500 participants from 25 countries, from Canada and the United States as well as from Czechia, France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Israel or Sri Lanka. Presented were 151 contributions in 19 panels.

29th October 2014 - Routledge publishers issued a book Adaptation to Climate Change through Water Resources Management Capacity, Equity and Sustainability, analyzing evidence from 26 countries and identifying common barriers and bridges for local adaptation to climate change through water resources management.
